The gym in the Superior Multi-Gen Center is open for pickleball.

  The Town of Superior with sponsorship from Resolution Copper has added many new and fun recreation activities for all ages this summer!  Alicia Cruz, the Town of Superior Parks and Recreation Coordinator, shared all the the new options for recreational activities.  For more information on these programs or additional details please contact Alicia directly at 520-827-1759 or via email at acruz@superioraz.gov.

  Funding for these programs has been made available through the Regional Economic Development agreement between the Town of Superior and Resolution Copper.

Open Gym: the gymnasium at the Multi-Gen Center (Original Superior High School) is now open for public use. The gym is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and during these hours, the gym is open to all ages.  On Wednesdays, the gym will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for adults only.  During these open hours, many residents are enjoying playing basketball and walking in the gym.  Everyone using the gym must wear shoes with white soles; black-sole shoes are not allowed in the gym.  As the construction of the Multi-Gen Center continues, there will be additional equipment and amenities added to the gym including cardio equipment and weight lifting equipment.  The recent phase of construction includes the air conditioning and heating of the gym which allows for the facility to be used year round.

Swimming Pool: In addition to the regular swimming pool hours for open swim, the Parks and Recreation department has added a few more fun activities at the pool including water aerobics and a float in movie night.  The float in movie night will feature a family friendly movie and will be held on Thursday, June 12.  Water Aerobics will be held on Mondays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Superior Public Pool.  Regular pool hours are scheduled Mondays noon to 6 p.m., Tuesdays noon to 6 p.m., Wednesdays 1 to 6 p.m., and Thursdays noon to 6 p.m.  Adult evening hours are Monday through Wednesday 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Thursday evening hours are designated for recreation night, and will be themed with different activities; hours are 6:30 to 9 p.m.  Friday through Sunday the pool is scheduled to be open to all ages from noon to 7 p.m.; however, the pool may close early on those days due to private parties.  Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult.  Prices for the pool are adults $3, children $1 and seniors $2.  Family passes are available and are good for the immediate family in the household; passes cost $50.  The pool can be rented for private parties and the cost is $50 per hour.  Pool parties and season passes can be purchased at Town Hall located at 199 Lobb Ave.

Superior Public Library: The Superior public library will host its annual Summer Reading program.  Adults and youth may sign up for the program, which is themed Color our World and will feature many unique activities and reading challenges.  In addition to this summer reading program, the Library has started a seed bank program for those who like to garden, and they are also conducting their annual purging of materials and giving away many books, audio books and magazines.  The Superior Public Library is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The HIVE: The HIVE at the Superior Enterprise Center located at the Multi-Gen Center is also open for everyone of all ages.  This Summer the HIVE is hosting a Mind & Motion Tech Exploration Camp.  The camp is free and will be hosted June 16-June 24.  Preregistration is required and those interested can register online: https://bit.ly/4kdD1P0 . The HIVE is is fully equipped with a variety of technological capabilities from 3-D printing and stop motion animation, to robotics, virtual reality experiences and basic computing.

  The HIVE is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday noon to 6 p.m., Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the first and third Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  During the summer camp, the HIVE will not be open to the public to accommodate the camp.

  There is no fee to use the HIVE or participate in the Summer Camp.

Summer Youth Activities:  Youth ages 5 through 12 can stop in to the Town of Superior Youth Summer Activity program. The program is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Superior Town Hall, 199 Lobb Ave.  These activities are held in the Recreation Building at the north west side of the building.  Activities include arts and crafts, games and much more.  There is no charge for this program.

Dance Aerobics:  Dance Aerobics classes will be held on Wednesdays through June from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Superior Town Hall in the Council Chambers.  These classes are free.

Crafters Meet Up:  Local crafters from Superior and the surrounding areas continue to meet on Wednesdays at the Superior Town Hall.  The group begins at gather at 9 a.m. until about noon.  The group encourages other crafters to bring their projects and connect with other crafters, to enjoy camaraderie and share skills.  Occasionally the group will work on group projects or crafts to raise funds for local organizations.
