Nolbert P. Casillas
Nolbert P. Casillas entered into the presence of our Lord May 24, 2025, from the comfort of his home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Superior, AZ on Jan. 25, 1926, to Jose and Julia Casillas.
At the age of 17, Nolbert proudly enlisted into the Navy, serving aboard the USS Bellatrix, an attack cargo ship during World War II and the Korean War. After his military service, he briefly worked as a copper miner before beginning a long and dedicated career as a milk distributor for Shamrock Dairy. For over 30 years, he was known affectionately as the town milkman.
Nolbert and his wife Armida raised 10 children, five boys, five girls. Each child was involved in the family business, waking up at 5 a.m. to help deliver milk to the homes. Through this, Nolbert instilled in his children the values of hard work and commitment.
Attending church every Sunday was a cornerstone of family life. Nolbert’s daily routine consisted of reading his Bible, listening to his favorite TV pastors, completing crossword puzzles, then a brief walk in the neighborhood.
At 99 years of age, and up until just a few months before his passing, he remained in good health with a sharp memory and a warm and positive attitude. Nolbert was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His kindness, generosity and faith left a lasting impact on countless lives. He leaves behind a godly legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Nolbert is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Armida; son, Anthony; and daughters, Rosie and Evelyn. He is survived by his children, Nolbert Jr. (Sherry), Terry Hernandez (Joe), Andy (Sue), Cecilia Grant (Bill), Anita Casillas (Mark), Thomas (Kim) and Pete Casillas; 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Central Christian Church, Gilbert campus, 965 E. Germann Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85297.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley for their exceptional care.
