On Wednesday, May 7, two Copper Corridor teams met on the softball field to see who would continue on the journey to 1A State.

  Hayden traveled to take San Manuel on for the quarterfinals play-off game.

  The Lady Lobos started the game off with a bang, scoring 5 runs during the first inning. The Lady Miners were unable to match Hayden, and weren’t able to get any runs. During the second inning Hayden scored 3 more runs, while San Manuel still couldn’t bring any runners in.

  Finally stopping the Lady Lobos from scoring during the third inning, the Lady Miners were able to put 2 runs onto the scoreboard. The fourth inning saw Hayden score 2 runs, while giving up none to the San Manuel.

  The Lady Miners once again stopped Hayden during the fifth inning, and scored 4 runs. The sixth inning sat at a stalemate, with both teams unable to score any runs. The Lady Lobos scored a final 3 runs during the sixth inning, while the Lady Miners scored 2 runs.

  After the dust settled, the final score sat at 13-8, giving the Lady Lobos the victory over the Lady Miners, bringing San Manuel’s softball season to an end.

  The Lady Miners finished their season with a final record of 7-11.

  The Lady Lobos advanced into the semifinals at the Papago Softball Complex on May 9. The Lady Lobos met up with number 1 seed, Joseph City. The Lady Lobos came out ready to play, and were able to get 2 runs on Joesph City, but were unable to stop them from scoring more runs.

  For the remainder of the game, the Lady Lobos struggled to bring any of their runners home. They also had difficulty stopping the Wildcats from getting runs. The game concluded with a tough loss for the Lady Lobos, and a final score of 2-24.

  Hayden softball closed out their season with a final record of 13-15.
