It was an eventful week full of games for the Copper Corridor baseball and softball teams last week.

Hayden Lobos

  The Lady Lobos softball team started out their week with an away game at San Manuel. The girls started the game with a 5-run first inning. The Lady Lobos were able to keep the lead until San Manuel had a 10-run third inning, putting the Lady Lobos behind. Hayden struggled to come back, and suffered a tough 11-21 loss.

  The following day, the girls hosted Superior for a double-header. During the first game, Superior pulled ahead in the second inning and the Lady Lobos spent the rest of the game attempting to get ahead, but fell short in the 17-22 game. In their second game, the girls struggled to keep Superior from scoring runs. The game ended with a tough 6-20 loss.

  The Lady Lobos closed out their week with an away game at Bisbee. The girls had another tough game, and were unable to come out on top. Suffering a 4-12 loss.

  The Hayden baseball team also started last week with an away game against San Manuel. The game started off with the Miners scoring first, but the Lobos took control during the third inning, and played back and forth until the fifth inning. The game closed out with a Lobos’ win, and a final score of 9-5.

  The following day, the boys hosted Superior. It was a shutout game, ending after five innings. The Lobos kept the Panthers from scoring, and the game concluded with a final score of 10-0.

  Closing out the week, the boys competed in Epic Tourneys Baseball Classic. During the first day of the tournament, the boys played against St. Johns. The first inning started out close with a 3-2 score, but the Lobos were able to hold that lead for the entire game, closing it out with a final score of 8-3. For day two of the tournament, the Lobos took on Bagdad. The game sat at 0-0 until the Lobos scored the first run in the fourth inning. The Sultans scored 3 runs during the sixth inning, putting the score at 2-3 before the Lobos went up to bat. Pulling back ahead with 2 runs, making the final score a close 4-3. For the last day of the tournament, the boys played against Globe. It was a battle of a game, but the boys fell short in the 4-15 loss.

Ray Bearcats

  The Lady ‘Cats hosted Miami to open play last week. The game started with Miami scoring 5 runs in the first inning, while Ray attempted to catch up and were close at 11-12 at the bottom of the fifth. Unfortunately, the game ended in a loss, with a final score of 11-14.

  The next day, the girls traveled to Fort Thomas. Turning it around from the previous game, the Lady ‘Cats were able to pull a 19-2 victory over Fort Thomas.

  Closing out their week, the girls traveled and played a double header against Mogollon. The girls suffered two tough losses, the first game ended with a 6-16 final score, and the second game ended with a 1-18 final score.

  It was a lighter week for the Bearcats baseball team. The boys started their week off taking on Miami at home. The boys battled back and forth for dominance in the game, and before the eighth inning, the score sat at 11-11. Unfortunately, the boys couldn’t stop the Vandals from scoring 2 runs. The final score of the game was 11-13.

  Closing out their week the Bearcats hosted Patagonia Union. Turing their luck around from earlier in the week, the boys showed dominance over the Panthers. During the second inning, the boys scored 19 runs, the game ended after the top of the third inning. The final score of the game sat at 20-1 in Ray’s favor.

San Manuel Miners

  The Lady Miners kept it light on the diamond last week. The girls hosted Hayden to start off their week. They were behind the first two innings, with the score sitting at 1-5. During the third inning, however, the Lady Miners gave up 2 runs, but scored 10 runs, putting them in the lead, where they remained for the remainder of the game. The game ended with a final score of 21-11.

  The Miners baseball team kept it light last week as well, hosting Hayden. The boys took the lead after the first inning, and held on to it until the third inning, then getting it back in the fourth inning, and losing it again in the fifth inning. The boys closed out the game with a 4-point loss, and a final score of 5-9.

  The boys were scheduled to play Patagonia Union on Friday, but no official score has been reported.

Superior Panthers

  It was a week full of double headers and wins for the Lady Panthers softball team. Starting their week off at Hayden, the first game was full of runs from both sides, but the girls were able to hold control of the game from the second inning. The final score of the first game was 22-17. The second game saw the Lady Panthers take control of the game with an 11-run first inning. The girls kept the lead and the final score of the game sat at 20-6.

  On Friday the girls hosted Fort Thomas for another double header. Both games closed out with Lady Panther wins, and final scores of 18-2 and 18-1. The girls played Saturday, hosting San Simon in another double header. Once again, the girls showed their skill on the diamond, winning both games, with final scores of 17-2 and 18-3.

  The Panthers baseball team started last week with a game at Hayden. Struggling to get the edge on the Lobos, the boys were unable to get any runs on the scoreboard, resulting in a 0-10 loss.

  The boys closed out their week competing in Epic Tourneys Baseball Classic. During their first game, they took on Ash Fork/Seligman. The Panthers took control in the first inning, giving up 1 run while scoring 3. The second inning solidified the lead with 5 runs. The final score of the game was 13-3. During their second game, they took on Globe. It was a tough loss for the Panthers, with a final score of 5-10.
