Reynaldo Escalante Ramirez

  Reynaldo Escalante Ramirez passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 97. Ray was born on Jan. 19, 1927, in Superior, AZ and was the beloved son of Juanita and Miguel “Mike” Ramirez. Ray was the oldest and last surviving of five siblings (Mike, “baby”, Dora, Bertha, and Helen). He was a loving and devoted husband to his childhood neighbor, Evelyn Ramirez for 75 years.

  Ray left high school early to join the Army where he served in WWII and traveled to many places. He also served and volunteered at the VFW as commander for many years.

  Ray had many skills including carpentry and framework and worked at the Magma Mine for several years. He was a jack of all trades and could fix most anything, very knowledgeable in history and math all the way to his last days.

  Ray loved baseball, the outdoors, hunting, playing pool and spending time with his many friends and family.

  Ray is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ramirez, and son, Baby Ray Ramirez (Molly). Preceded in death by his son, Arturo “Jap” Ramirez (Yolanda), Ray has four grandchildren (Lisa, Billy, Christine, and Michael Ray), 17 great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Ray will be remembered for his quick-witted humor and kindness to all he encountered, he will be missed deeply by many.

  Services for Mr. Ramirez were held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Superior. Military Honors were presented for him following the Mass.
