Jesus (Jess) DaRugna
Jesus (Jess) DaRugna peacefully joined our Lord on Dec. 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Jess was born in Jerome, Arizona on Nov. 14, 1933, to Adolph DaRugna and Ysabel Lara DaRugna. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary (Lily) Guzman (Manuel), his twin sister Anna Zavala (Mike), and his brother Louie (Mary).
While still a child, his family moved from Jerome to Superior. Jess joined the Army on June 4, 1953, and served in Korea until he was honorably discharged on June 1, 1955.
On May 14, 1960, Jess married his sweetheart, Patty Jimenez, and was soon blessed with two beautiful girls, Gerry and Monica. He worked as a copper miner for Magma Copper in Superior, Rowley Pipeline, then returned to copper mining and retired from BHP.
Jess loved spending time with his family, telling stories about his life and his town of Superior. He also enjoyed cooking, good food, tinkering around the house and watching Disney movies. In addition, everyone knew about his love of animals and was sometimes seen taking his babies for a ride in the car.
Jess is survived by his wife, Patty; his daughters, Gerry (Elias) Alonzo and Monica; his sister-in-law, Rebecca Delgado; his cat, Coco; his adopted dog, Jacko; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services for Jess will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Superior. Viewing will be at 9 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.
Vaya con Dios, Jess; you will be missed!
