The winter season has opened for three Copper Corridor teams. Hayden starts their season Dec. 2.

The Superior girls basketball team opened up their season with a busy schedule this past week. The Lady Panthers traveled to Globe to take on the Lady Tigers. It was a tough 21-51 loss. The girls closed out their week with an away game against Duncan. It was another tough game; Superior unfortunately took a 7-45 loss.

The Panthers opened their season with an away game against Globe. It was a well played game, but the boys fell short with a final score of 42-68.

The following day, the boys played against Apache Junction. It was another tough game, which ended in a 27-60 final score. The Panthers ended their week with an away game at Duncan. The boys claimed their first win with a 50-36 final score.

The Panthers will travel to take on Cicero Prep on Nov. 25, as the only game for the holiday week.

Ray Bearcats

The Ray girls basketball team opened up their season last week with a home game against Valley Union. The game ended with a final score of 18-54. On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Lady ‘Cats traveled to take on San Simon. The game resulted in the second loss for the girls, and a final score of 16-40.

The boys basketball team also started their season last week with a home game against Valley Union as well. The Bearcats made easy work out of the Blue Devils. The game ended with a final score of 54-19. The boys closed out their week with an away game at San Simon. It was the second win for the boys, with a final score of 62-41.

Both teams will play their next game on Dec. 2 at Hayden.

San Manuel Miners

The San Manuel girls basketball team opened their season last week. The Lady Miners played against St. Augustine. The game ended with a tough 17-52 final score.

The boys basketball team started their season last week, as well, with a home game against St. Augustine. The Miners played a tough game, but fell short with a 33-53 loss.

Both teams will host Duncan on Nov. 26.
