Superior Mayor Mila Besich

Mayor Mila Besich from the Town of Superior was recognized by the Arizona Small Business Association.  Besich was awarded the Rural Impact Award during ASBA’s recent “Big Thank You” event.  The event awards business leaders from across the state and other organizations that support small business growth and development.  The Rural Community Impact Award is presented to a leader who has made contributions to the development and improvement of Arizona’s Rural Communities.

Besich has served as the Mayor of Superior since 2016.  She is the Executive Director of the Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition and also owns her own business, Miracle Executive Services.  She has a lifetime of experience working for small family-owned businesses including Copper Area News Publishers and Bruzzi Vineyard.

Legislative District 4 Representative Matt Gress and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego were awarded a Legislative Advocacy Awards.  The small business change maker award was awarded to Success on the Spectrum, a Mesa-based business.  The Economic Development Champion award was awarded to the City of Surprise.  Arizona Business Ally Award was presented to the Arizona Commerce Authority. Small Business Legacy awards were awarded to Valley Bevelling Corporation and E&M Rigging.  Business Mentorship Awards were presented to Mark Mertel and David Pender.  ASBA also recognized Southwest Airlines, Arizona Public Service (APS) and Salt River Project (SRP) with their outstanding partnership awards.

The ceremony and reception were held at the headquarters of the National Bank of Arizona in Phoenix.
