With two Homecoming games and an added game for one team, there was a lot of action for Copper Corridor football teams this week.

Superior and Ray High Schools celebrated Homecoming, hosting parades prior to the game and crowning the royalty during halftime.

It was a tough time under the Friday night lights last week for the Superior football team. The Panthers hosted Lincoln Prep.

The first half of the game showed two teams that were fighting for the top, with a 20-20 score by halftime. In the third quarter the Panthers scored a touchdown and held off the Lightning.

The fourth quarter was a tough battle for the control and the Panthers were unable to keep their hold. The Lightning were able to collect more points and gain the lead over the Panthers. The final score of the game was 36-46, making it a tough loss for Superior.

The Panthers will travel to take on Cicero Prep on Friday, Oct. 4.

Ray Bearcats

The Ray football team celebrated their homecoming on Friday, Sept. 27, taking on Fort Thomas.

The Bearcats came out ready to play, ending the first quarter with a 20-14 score. In the second quarter the Bearcats showed a tough defense, keeping Fort Thomas from scoring that quarter. The first half of the game ended with a score of 36-14.

The boys came out ready to play after halftime, racking up the points. The third quarter ended with a score of 51-20. The Bearcats once again showed their tough defense and kept Fort Thomas from scoring for the rest of the game. The game ended with a Bearcat win, and a final score of 63-20.

The Hayden football team traveled to Williams to take on the Vikings for a Thursday night showdown.

The Lobos came out ready for a battle, and it showed with the first quarter score of 26-0. The Lobos picked it up and hiked their score up to 62 by halftime. The boys’ defense flexed an unbreakable strength, not allowing the Vikings to score at all.

After halftime the Lobos brought the score to 68 points. The game ended with a 68-0 score, making it a Lobo victory!

This Friday, the boys will host Baboquivari with a 7 p.m. kickoff time for Hayden’s Homecoming. Come out and support the Lobos!

Dominic Rodriguez scored the first two touchdowns, with Brayden Martinez scoring the 2 point-conversions. By halftime, the score sat at 16-14.
