CMCA Gavin N. Garcia, 18, of Kearny, graduated from United States Navy Bootcamp at the Navy’s only Recruit Training Command located in Great Lakes, Illinois on Aug. 15, 2024.
Garcia successfully completed 10 weeks of intensive basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. While in basic training, Garcia learned many valuable skills to become a sailor. He received the Sharpshooter Award in weapons training.
Garcia is attending A School in Port Hueneme, California and is studying to be a construction mechanic. He will be posted to the Little Creek Naval Base in Virginia where he will serve in the Seabee Construction Battalion.
Garcia is the son of Scott and Ilsa Garcia and the grandson of Maria Acuna and Tony and Irene Hansen. He has three siblings, Anthony, Jared and Jordan Garcia. He is a 2024 graduate of Ray High School.
