It was a rough and tough week for three of the four Copper Corridor football teams with Hayden posting the only win.

The Hayden football team hosted Bagdad under last week’s Friday night lights.

The boys came out and were ready to face the Sultans. By the end of the first quarter, the Lobos had a 12-8 lead. During the second quarter, the Lobos had some trouble keeping Bagdad out of the end zone. At half time the score sat at 12-14, with the Lobos behind.

After the half, the Lobos were able to bring themselves ahead. The third quarter ended with a 18-14 score. The last quarter proved to be the most packed with action, as both teams scored.

But the Lobos scored more.

The game ended with a final score of 30-20.

The Lobos will travel to take on Joseph City on Friday, Sept. 13, with a kickoff time scheduled for 7 p.m.

The JV Lobo football team traveled to take on Globe last week. The boys walked away with a fantastic victory over the Tigers. The final score of the game was 36-0.

Ray Bearcats

The Ray football team traveled to take on St. David last Friday. The Bearcats had a tough time breaking through the Tigers’ defense. The game ended with a tough loss of 0-65.

The Bearcats will travel to take on Valley Union on Friday, Sept. 13, with a kickoff time of 7 p.m.

San Manuel Miners

Duncan had the home field advantage over the Miners.

The San Manuel football team traveled to Duncan to take on the Wildkats last Friday. The Miners put up a fight but were not able to come out on top. The final score of the game was 16-22.

This was the third loss the Miners have suffered this season.

The Miners will take on Fort Thomas at home on Friday, Sept. 13. Be sure to come out and support the Miners!

Superior Panthers

The Superior football team played a tough game on the field last Friday up in Williams.

During the first quarter, Superior was able to score a touchdown. Williams answered with one of their own plus a two-point conversion. The end of the first quarter sat at 6-8.

During the second quarter the Panthers were able to change the score in their favor. By halftime the score sat at 12-8.

Coming in strong after halftime the Panthers ended the third quarter with a 20-8 score. The Williams Vikings came back in the fourth quarter, leveling the score to 20-20, and sending them into overtime. Unfortunately, the Panthers fell short, and suffered a close loss of 20-26.

The boys will host Mogollon on Friday, Sept. 13, with a scheduled kickoff time of 7 p.m. Come out and support the Panthers!
