Marshall Jay Figueroa Tomerlin was born May 31, 2012, and unexpectedly gained his wings May 25, 2024, just six days shy of his 12th birthday.
Marshall was born to Tanya Figueroa Tomerlin and John Phillip Tomerlin.
He was very sweet, loving, kind and witty. Marshall’s passions were baseball, football, VR, playing on his Xbox, metal detecting, collecting baseball caps and baseball cards. Marshall just finished his 6th grade and was ready to move on to Jr High so he could finally wear his beloved hats to school. Marshall was studious and attained good grades although he was not very fond of school.
Marshall’s long-time passion was playing baseball, that started with Little League T-ball and continued all the way to “majors”. He loved and cherished every minute of it, excelled every year and loved his teammates. He was a beloved member of his team. You very rarely would see Marshall without one of his baseball caps on.
Marshall loved spicy foods with Takis being his favorite. After having a full meal Marshall would tap his belly and say he identified himself as “fat and full”.
He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Marshall is survived by his parents, John Phillip Tomerlin and Tanya Figueroa Tomerlin (Jason Clark); brother, JP; sister, Rose; paternal great-grandfathers, Felipe Peru and Fred Byas; and paternal grandparents, John and Nancy Tomerlin, and Barbara and Terry Byas. He also leaves behind his Nino Marty Peru, Nina Kathy Noriega and his many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and his doggie best friends Mackie and Belle.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marcelino (Marshall) and Rose Figueroa; Nino Marcelino Figueroa III, Uncle Chris Contreras, Uncle John Noriega and Cousin David Noriega; paternal great-grandparents, Eva Peru, Sue Byas, Francie Tomerlin Simpson and John (RIP) Richard Tomerlin.
