  On May 1, the San Manuel softball team traveled to St. David to compete in the quarterfinals round of the 2024 1A state softball championship.

  It was a tough first inning for the Lady Miners who were unable to post any runs but gave up 1 run to the Tigers. The second and third inning saw neither team score any runs. In the fourth inning, the Lady Miners scored 1 run, while giving up 3 runs to St. David.

  During the fifth inning, the girls posted 2 more runs, giving up none. In the sixth inning, the Lady Miners scored 1 run, but gave up 5. The game ended with a tough loss, and a final score of 4-9.

  Jazlynn Clark, Mariah Villalba, Laila Ruiz and Jasmine Sanchez each scored 1 run during the game. Julianna Garcia pitched five innings and collected 6 strikeouts. Mariah Villalba pitched 1 inning, collecting 1 strikeout.

  The Lady Miners closed out their 2024 season with a positive record of 20-8-1.
