In a stirring tribute to courage and community spirit, the Pinal County Attorney’s Office pulled out all the stops for a memorable Law Enforcement Appreciation Banquet in Eloy, Arizona, on April 25, 2024.  The event was a beautiful tapestry of gratitude, celebrating the selfless dedication and sacrifices of our law enforcement officers, as well as the unwavering support from our beloved community members.  Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer started off the event with a warm welcome.

Two nominees emerged from the Town of Superior: Detective Donald Lloyd and Superior Community Member Rick Cartier, thanks to a heartfelt endorsement from none other than Superior Police Chief Tim Chavez.  His unwavering belief in these nominees spoke volumes about the impact they’ve had in their respective roles.

Detective Donald Lloyd earned a well-deserved nomination for the prestigious Victims Services Award. As the friendly face of law enforcement in Superior’s schools and the lead detective for crimes against children, Detective Lloyd’s compassion and empathy shine brightest in the darkest of moments. His unwavering resolve make him a true hero in the eyes of our community.

Then there’s the irrepressible Rick Cartier, nominated for the illustrious Community Member Award. Rick’s a man of many talents, but it’s his boundless generosity and infectious energy that truly set him apart. Whether he’s lending a helping hand at volunteer events or rallying behind our law enforcement officers, Rick’s positivity radiates throughout the Town of Superior.

And let’s not forget the presence of Rick’s lovely wife and Superior Councilman Bruce Armitage, accompanied by his spouse. Their support added an extra layer of warmth and solidarity to the proceedings, reminding us all of the strong bonds that tie the community together.

Though the competition was fierce and the stakes high, both nominees, Detective Donald Lloyd and Rick Cartier, emerged as true champions in the hearts of their peers. While the grand prize may have slipped through their fingers, the custom wood-designed plaques they received will forever stand as symbols of our enduring gratitude for their incredible contributions.

As the evening drew to a close amidst laughter and tears of joy, it was abundantly clear that this celebration wasn’t just about honoring our law enforcement officers and community members – it was a heartfelt reminder of the power of unity and compassion that defines the soul of Superior.
