The 2023 summer softball season came sliding to an end on Thursday, July 20, at the Mammoth softball field.
The Mammoth Fire Department stopped by the field to help cool off the players and other children in attendance, by spraying water towards them with a hose. The players and the kids then had a water balloon fight, before it was time to commence the closing ceremonies. Food was also served to everyone who showed up.
“We didn’t hold opening ceremonies, but we did do our best with closing ceremonies,” commented Bernadette Cuevas.
There was a total of 12 teams that participated in the 2023 Summer Softball league, with ages from 3 to 16. There were even a few boys who joined this season. There were teams from Hayden, Kearny, Oracle and San Manuel with a mix of girls from all over the Tri-Community. It was a busy, but great season with about 10 games being played every week. Some teams even went undefeated.
“We ended our season with our girls playing against their parents and coaches, and boy was that a fun game to watch,” began Bernadette Cuevas. “We couldn’t have ran this season without dedicated coaches to the league, and the girls. I would like to thank Larry and Dani Dukes, Ramona Pacheco, Ashley Baugher, Erica Hernandez, James Rollins, Angela Sierra, Daniel Zaueta, Annalisa Villanueva, Illiana Romitti, Xezenia Quintero, Tara, and all the assistant coaches, and to the best umpires we have ever had, Nico Chavez, Mateo Chavez, and Makayla Chavez. These three were always there to help, no questions asked. A special thank you to Michelle Gonzales, Ellie Brown, and Cheetovibez for helping with closing ceremonies. Also a huge thanks to our other sponsors; Salt N Pepper, SaddleBrooke Ranch, SaddleBrooke Outreach, Silver Mountain Mine, the Garcia Family, SMRC, Pride Mechanical, and Hardin Brothers Automotive.”
