On the morning of Friday, July 7, 2023, Zavier David Magallanez passed away at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ. Zavier was 29 years old.
Zavier was born in the City of Glendale in Maricopa County, AZ at 4:32 a.m. on Oct. 20, 1993. He was the third son born to Karen Dawn Moore and the second son born to David Campos Magallanez.
Zavier was an Arizona native. He and his siblings were raised by their mother who passed away unexpectedly when Zavier was 13 years old. Zavier was taken in and raised by his older siblings, Travis McGuire, Alison McGuire and Melanie Magallanez. Despite many obstacles, Zavier was determined to make something of himself and against all odds, he succeeded.
Zavier had a strong faith in God; he was hardworking and dedicated to his career. He purchased a home at a young age and in October 2022, he became a father. Hazel was the light of his life. Fatherhood suited him. Zavier took pride in his success and ability to provide and care for his little family and the ones he loved, being a family-man fulfilled him.
Zavier was not only a devoted father, but he was also a loving brother, dedicated uncle, and loyal friend. He had a goofball personality and enjoyed making people laugh. He had a contagious smile and a loud, infectious belly-laugh. Zavier made lasting connections and friendships in the most unlikely places. He was like a brother to all who knew him. Zavier had a big heart and he loved even bigger. He was sweet, gentle, gave the best hugs and the sweetest forehead kisses.
Zavier had a passion for sports, football, basketball, softball, boxing and UFC. He was known for dominating in all things “bar sports” including cards, darts, pool, cornhole, beer pong and horseshoes. He relished in an occasional bowling night and even owned his own bowling ball. He always looked forward to his next hunt, especially with his niece, Lillian. He had an obsession with 90s hip hop, rap, R&B and country music. Zavier was and will always be known as the life of the party, a cold beer in hand at all times.
Zavier was a giver of gifts and in his last selfless act on earth gave the gift of life through organ donation. It brings his family peace knowing through his passing, he gave life to others.
Zavier was preceded in death by Karen Moore (mother), David Magallanez (father), Arvilla Moore (maternal grandmother), Willis Moore (maternal grandfather), Apolinar Magallanez (paternal grandfather), and Consuelo Magallanez (paternal grandmother).
Zavier is survived by his 8-month-old daughter, Hazel Magallanez; siblings, Misty (Ralph) Castillo, Josh McGuire, Josh Magallanez, Travis (Alison) McGuire, Melanie Magallanez and Joseph Magallanez; and nieces and nephews, JoZee, Jayden, Mariah, Sienna, Ralph, Lillian, Sophia, Noah and Memphis.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 3, at 2 p.m. at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd., Peoria, AZ 85383. A reception will follow the service at the American Legion Post #29, 6822 N. 57th Dr., Glendale, AZ 85301.
