Casa de La Luz will be presenting “How Hospice Can Help in the Tri-Community” on Jan. 16, 2023, at the Oracle Community Center, 685 E. American Ave., at 11 a.m.
Casa De La Luz, Spanish for “House of Light”, was co-founded in 1998 to provide superior hospice care to Pima County Residents. Founded by Agnes Poore and the late Lynette Jaramillo, this vision was born at the kitchen table. Lynette grew up in the small community of Mammoth and later raised her children in San Manuel, where her husband worked in the mines for over 30 years. When Lynette and Agnes started Casa de La Luz, they never lost sight of Lynette’s roots in the Tri Community and their devotion to grow Casa de la Luz large enough to serve families in Pinal County.
Today, Casa de la Luz remains focused on Agnes and Lynette’s vision to provide education and support to our community members. We share a combined desire to empower our community with knowledge and embrace families as they travel the End-of-Life Journey.
Our Casa de la Luz Nurse Educator, Jennifer Vanden Eykel, worked alongside Lynette and Agnes for five years, and carries their same vision of educating our community families. Jennifer is a master’s prepared Nurse with a specialty in Nursing Education. She has over 20 years of nursing experience, in both Acute Care settings and Hospice and is passionate about the hospice philosophy and providing the awareness of our mission.
Casa De La Luz continues to serve our communities through excellent end-of-life care offering superior medical, emotional and spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Topics will include DNRs vs. Advance Directives; Five Wishes; Myths About Hospice; and Hospice Medicare Benefit.
Hospice care is not limited to the last few days of a patient’s life. In fact, hospice is designed to provide support throughout the final stages of illness.
