Faraday Copper, also known as Redhawk Copper, held a public open house on the evening of Oct. 3, 2022, at the San Manuel Community Center. This was one of three held in the Tri-Community.
Over 70 attendees were updated by Faraday Copper staff and enjoyed pizza and beverages provided by Faraday Copper. An informational video was played prior to the presentation.
Faraday Management staff and other support staff were on hand to explain the project and answer questions. Aaron Cohn, VP and Country Manager, USA, and Angela Johnson, VP Corp Development and Sustainability, provided information on the Copper Creek Project as well as answered questions from those in attendance. Several topics were covered during the open house.
Some of the topics included: Project Safety Priorities, Project Timelines and Milestones, Environmental Concerns, Mitigation and Sustainability Commitments, Social Commitments and Community Engagement, Project History, Future Copper Demand vs U.S. Supply Sources, Drilling and Baseline Studies, Copper Creek Area Geology, Conceptional Mine Planning, and Planned Future Activities. They also discussed the Contact Copper Project in Elko County, Nevada.
Faraday Copper reported that the Phase 1 Drill project is complete. Phase 2 Drill project is scheduled to begin in November of 2022. The current Redhawk Copper building in San Manuel is receiving a much-needed facelift. Permits are being processed to construct a large storage facility in the local area for present and future core samples. Permitting steps are also in process for future mining preparations and mining. Optimistically they are hoping for an active mining operation in a 7-10 years’ time frame.
The initial plans include an open pit and underground mining operation in phases. It is estimated that the projected mine area holds up to four billion pounds of copper. This would suggest a 20-30 tons per year extracted from the mining operation for up to a 30-year life span. The mining permit process requires several steps. It was pointed out that Faraday is still in the preliminary phases. Feasibility studies, environmental impact statements, public input, on top of community government and tribal engagements, and more, are essential in seeing this project come to future fruition.
