Robert “Bob” Bohrn, beloved husband, father, papa, and friend to all, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, after battling stage IV colon cancer for two and a half years. Bob was born on Aug. 19, 1957, in Ely, Nevada. He spent most of his childhood in Winkelman, Arizona and resided in Dudleyville, Arizona for the last 42 years.
Being a lover of the outdoors, Bob grew up an avid hunter and fisherman. He graduated from Hayden High School as class salutatorian in 1975 and began working at Kennecott in 1978. On April 12, 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Germain Verdugo, and together they had three children.
Bob was very active not only in his own children’s lives, but in the lives of most children in the Hayden/Winkelman community. He was a lover of sports and coached youth softball, wrestling, basketball, and his absolute favorite, football. When he was not coaching you could find him refereeing or umpiring the games in Hayden. Bob retired after 41 years from his job at Asarco as a maintenance engineer in October 2019. He spent his last years continuing to do what he loved – camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Germain Bohrn; mother, Margie Bohrn; daughters, Jordan (RJ) Guzman and Shannon (Kryslen) Bohlt; son, Robert Bohrn Jr.; sisters, Lynn (Chuck) Achey and Jolene (Ron) Loroña; and brothers, Chuck (Sue) Bohrn, Earl (Donna) Bohrn, and Rodney (Virginia) Bohrn. He was blessed with seven grandchildren: Serena (13), Orlando (11), Kendall (7), Leighton (3), Remi (6 months), Valé (2), and Mia (10 months). Grandchild number eight is due in June 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Bohrn.
Services for Bob were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hayden, Arizona on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Family was assisted with exceptional service by Griffith Mortuary.
