The Hayden baseball team claimed two victories last week.
On March 25, the Lobos hosted San Manuel. The boys held a 1-0 lead until San Manuel made it a 1-1 tie in the third inning. At the beginning of the fourth inning, San Manuel pulled ahead by putting up 3 runs, but the boys came back with 4 runs. The boys continued the heat, scoring runs for the remaining innings. The game ended with a final score of 11-4.
Rene Ochoa and Deondre Collier both had 2 runs for the game.
On April 1, the Lobos traveled to Pima, where they went face-to-face with the Roughriders. Hayden came out on top with a 2-point lead in the 6-4 game.
Rene Ochoa and Moraes Cruz both had 2 runs, followed by Paul Gaither and Brandon Garner with 1 run each. Aaron Peed had 2 RBIs in the game.
The Lady Lobos started last week off with a tough loss to San Manuel. San Manuel proved hard to pin down on offense for the girls. They game ended with a 9-15 final score.
The Lady Lobos switched gears during their next game against Valley Union. The girls were able to secure 10 runs, while only giving up 2 runs, for a final score of 10-2.
The following day, the Lady Lobos traveled to Miami to face the Vandals. The girls once again brought it to their opponents and came out with the victory. Though it wasn’t as devastating as the previous game, the girls were still able to post 12 runs, while only giving up 7 runs, for a final score of 12-7.
Up next for Hayden: On Thursday, Hayden will host Superior for 4 p.m. games. On Saturday, April 9, the teams will host Joseph City. The girls will play at 1 p.m. while the boys have a double header at 1 and 3 p.m. On Tuesday, April 12, they will host the Ray Bearcats for 4 p.m. games.
