It is with sadness that the family of Jose Valentin announce his passing on Dec. 14, 2021. Jose, 91, passed away peacefully at the Park Avenue Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tucson, Arizona. He was a native Arizonan, born on March 23, 1930, and raised in Hayden, Arizona and resided there until moving to Nogales, Arizona. He was long-time resident of Nogales, Arizona. He will be missed by his family.
Following graduation from Hayden High School he joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany, served in Company C 169th Infantry, and was honorably discharged. Following his discharge from the Army he attended and graduated from Art school in Portland, OR. He returned to Hayden and later moved to Nogales with this sister, Jessie, and parents.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Teodora Valentin; sisters, Jessie Valentin and Antonia (Toni) Scrivner; and brother, Trinidad Valentin. Jose is survived by his sister-in-law, Yolanda Valentin, widow of Trinidad Valentin, children of sister Antonia (Toni) Scrivner, Leo Scrivner (Patti) of Cary, NC, Benjamin Scrivner (Maria) of Missouri City TX, Vera Scrivner (Robert) of Algona, IA, and Thelma Ramos of Laveen, AZ, and children of brother Trinidad Valentin, Raquel Valentin Wheeler of Sierra Vista, Esther Henley (Robert) of Casa Grande, Paul (Traycee) of Sierra Vista, and Olivia Silver (Aaron) of Tucson, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass is planned for January 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 300 Mountain View Drive, Hayden, AZ. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 202 AZ-177 Winkelman, AZ. Mass will also be held in April 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 272 North Rodriguez Street, Nogales AZ. Funeral information will be provided later.
