Cy Miller was born July 1, 1937 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas to Cyrus and Alice Miller. Cy had four siblings, a brother and three sisters: Dick, Alice, Marion and Sally.
He passed away on July 6, 2021, at the age of 84.
Cy was preceded in death by his older brother Dick, his mother Alice and his little sister Sally along with her son.
He is survived by his wife Sue; his children, Carol, Beth and Cy; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two nieces and their families and his nephew and his wife. He loved them all with all of his heart.
Cy’s grandfather, Nat Plumer, was the second banker in Tucson and had the honor of naming Speedway. Plumer Ave. was named after Nat. Nat invested heavily in the Oracle area, including the purchase and development of the Oracle Historical Society, the Rock Church and the Oracle Graveyard, where Cy met his best friend, Reg Ramsay, when he was six years old. The two of them spent a lot of time working and helping members of the community lay their loved ones to rest in the cemetery. Cy’s mother, Alice, bought their first home up in Oracle in 1903.
Cy grew up in Tucson and went to school at Tucson High. He summered and also grew up in Oracle. After high school, he went on to attend U of A University. He was drafted into the Army and served his country in the early 1960s. He met his beautiful bride and married her in April of 1966 and in 1969 they bought a house and moved to Oracle, permanently. Cy and Sue have three wonderful children: Carol (Mike) White, Beth Miller and Cyrus III.
Cy started working for Magma in 1968 and had a prosperous career for 32 years until he retired. He started playing in the dirt and started building a second career and passion back in 1975 and continued to do so up into his 80s. His hobbies have always been playing and staying heavily involved in the stock market since he was young. He also loved traveling the country
with Sue in their many RVs that they had over all the years, seeing the sites, making memories with the love of his life and visiting friends and family.
Cy was a faith-based family man who would give the shirt off his back if he knew it would help, This man undoubtedly will be missed! The family wants to thank you for coming out to honor Cy and spending time reflecting at his celebration of life ceremony!
