Rebuild Superior Inc. hosted a community clean up at the Fairview Cemetery on Saturday. About 30 people worked at the cemetery on Saturday morning cleaning up the older sections of the cemetery.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic the Department of Corrections ended the inmate work release program. This severely affected the Town of Superior Public Works, creating a back log of work across the Town. For many of the graves in the older section of the Fairview Cemetery, there may not be any descendants or other family members to maintain or care for the graves.
Rebuild Superior took the lead to organize the community clean up and is also conducting an online fundraiser to help fund increased clean ups and private maintenance services at the cemetery. You can donate to the fund online via their Facebook page, Rebuild Superior Inc.
Rebuild Superior is planning additional community clean ups at the cemetery in August and October.
