Anita Marie ‘Annie’ Duarte Groves

  Anita Marie “Annie” Duarte Groves, age 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at her home in Apple Valley, California after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. 

  She was born Jan. 24, 1957, in Superior, to Ruben and Mary Jessie Duarte. She was a 1976 graduate of Superior High School and 1978 graduate of Central Arizona College and briefly attended Arizona State University. 

  She married Robert Groves on Dec. 22, 1979, in Superior. She worked as a care provider with various facilities, displaying a wonderful knack for helping others. Anita truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; visiting with friends and family, slumber parties with granddaughters, telling jokes and dancing. Anita had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. 

  Anita is preceded into death by her parents, Ruben and Mary Jessie Duarte; sister, Ruby Maldonado; and son, Richard “Moose” Groves. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Groves; son, Robert Groves Jr. (Amy); granddaughters, Cadence and Cambria Groves; brothers, Dr. Fred Duarte (Bobra) and Ruben Duarte (Christine); sisters, Martha Guzman (late Candelario), Dolores Groves (Mike) and Andrea Kipp (Matt); and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

  Celebration of life was held at Victor Valley Memorial in Victorville, California on Jan. 10, 2020, with various family members and friends.
