Philip ‘Clayton’ Bonner

  Philip C. “Clayton” Bonner, 81 died Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at his home in Catalina, AZ following a brief illness.

  Clayton was born on July 27, 1937 to Clark and May Bonner in Eden, AZ. The second of four children, he grew up in Eden, Central Heights and Globe, AZ. He attended Globe High School where he met Kristie Sue Langdon. He and Kristie raised two children, Kimberly and Craig in San Manuel, AZ, where Clayton worked for 25 years as a Machinist Foreman at Magma Copper Company, and served as an active member of the Elks Club. He tragically lost Kristie to cancer in 1985.

  Clayton met Katherine (Kay) Martin on a blind date in 1985, and the two of them married the following year. Clayton and Kay experienced many adventures in their golden years. They traveled throughout the U.S. in their motor home, together with friends. Clayton had an appreciation for art, enjoyed working with his hands, golfing, and taking care of his yard. He lived an active life until the very end.

  He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Katherine [Kay] Bonner; his daughter, Kim Bustamante (Beto); his son, Craig Bonner; his step-daughters, Gail Baker (Karl), Lynn Morris (Mark) and Jan Kaldenbaugh (Chris); his brother, Homer Bonner; his sister, Geraldine Boyes; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and May Bonner; his brother Edward Bonner; and his first wife Kristie Bonner.

  Services will be held at Vistoso Funeral Home at 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., Oro Valley, AZ 85755. A viewing will take place on Friday, July 26, 2019, where visitors are invited to come between 6 and 8 p.m. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, July 27,2019 at 11 a.m.. Lunch reception to follow. Flowers and condolences may be sent to the funeral home.
