So much time and practice goes into a school concert. Just ask any of the kids who performed last week in the Ray School District’s Winter Holiday Band Concert.
Four bands and three special groups performed Thursday night at the Ray Auditorium.
The Fifth Grade Band performed first with five pieces, Rolling Along, Go Tell Aunt Rhodie, Lightly Row, Au Claire De La Lune and Jingle Bells. The Fifth Grade Band members are:
Flutes: Camille Bentley, Glanah De Los Reyes, Kyleigh Reidhead and Destiany Smitch.
Clarinets: Makayla Barajas, Mia Barahas, Kylie Jenkins, Jossy Lechuga and Marlayna Mariscal.
Saxophones: Isabelle Cruz, Julianna Granillo and Kermit Hoyt.
Trumpets: Rorie Ella Aranda, Veronica Baez, Julissa Garcia, Leahnesah Madala, Tomas Rivera, Cris Solis and Joslyn Sosa.
Trombones: Cyrus Putman, Kaiden Riege and Jaslyn Thomas.
Percussion: Jaxon Cude, Jason Day and Aiden Foster.
Ray 6th Grade Band
The Sixth Grade Band performed Sakura, Sakura, Banana Beat Song (Day-O), Cool It!, and a Holiday Medley. The Sixth Grade Band Members are:
Flutes: Mary Jurado, Brandon Mannion and Bella Montijo.
Clarinets: Vanessa Bul, Nicholas Lopez, Analina Montijo, Analysia Nunez and Gracie Rivera.
Saxophones: Shaylee Fales, Dominic Fessenden, Bridgette Gennicks and Johnathan Molina.
Trumpets: Alex Lechuga, Vincent O’Brien, Faith Rabb, Raymond Sanchez and Landree D. Scaggs.
Baritone: Avery Acuna.
Trombone: Estrella Brumley.
Percussion: Jade Bentley, Mark Chester and James Ruiz.
Ray Jr. High Band
The Junior High Band performed Auld Lang Syne and The Holly and the Ivy. The Junior High Band Members are:
Clarinets: Elaina Figueroa, Madison Kenney, Ricky Rabb and Yasmin Rivera.
Saxophones: Perfecto Bracamonte, Lexi Gallego and Cambria Sosa.
Euphonium: Tyler Tharp.
Percussion: Faith Bracamonte and Marcos Torres.
There were three special groups from the Junior High Band who performed Thursday night. The Junior High Percussion Duo Faith Bracamonte and Marcos Torres performed Camptown Races and Ukrainian Bell Carol.
The Ray Jr. High Saxophone Trio
The Junior High Saxophone Trio Perfecto Bracamonte, Lexi Gallego and Cambria Sosa performed Musette and Jingle Bells. And the Junior High Clarinet Quartet Elaina Figueroa, Madison Kenney, Ricky Rabb and Yasmin Rivera performed From the Fairy Queen and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Ray High School Band
The High School Band rounded out the evening with It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, The Christmas Song (Chestnuts), Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and All I Want for Christmas is You. Band members are:
Flutes: Marissa Baez, Brittany Smitch, Tiffany Smitch and Molli Verdugo.
Clarinets: Brianna Goad and Emma Stuart.
Saxophones: Juan Rivera and Mia Rivera.
Trumpets: Aaron Azevedo, Isaiah Azevedo, Dallin Coleman, Brina Morales and Jesus Rivera.
Trombone: Aiden Acuna.
Euphonium: Ashiya Varley
Tuba: Saul Torres.
Percussion: Alejandro Baez, Faith Hinojos and Allen Martinez.
The music program is under the direction of Michael Napientek.
The next concert is set for March 14, 2019 at 7 p.m.
