The Hayden football team won its season opener last Friday, defeating Phoenix Day School for the Deaf on the road, 56 – 8.
The Lobos led 24 – 0 at the end of the first quarter and 50 – 0 at halftime.
“I was pleased with our performance,” Hayden head coach. “Our young kids got a lot of playing time.”
Estrada attributed the offensive success to the linemen’s performance. “Our line did a good job opening holes for our backs and quarterback.”
The Lobos visit Mogollon on Friday.
“Mogollon is ranked No. 4 in the state,” Estrada said. “This will be a big game (test) for us on where we’re at as a team.
“(The Mustangs) pass the ball well and run that unbalanced line with lots of misdirection plays. We’ll definitely need to be ready.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
