A house fire in Superior. Superior Firefighters battled the blaze but the home was completely destroyed.

On Tuesday, July 3, at about 3:20 a.m., the  Superior Fire Department responded to a house fire near Edna St. and Martin St.  The department arrived to a fully engulfed structure fire. The flames could be seen across town. It was determined that the structure fire was an abandoned home.

The on duty crew immediately responded from the station as well as reserve firefighters responding from home.  Firefighters arrived to find the abandoned house fully engulfed with roof collapse and large embers flying up into the air starting spot fires in the surrounding brush.

An aggressive fire attack was administered to contain the fire to the house which was effective and eventually put the flames out.  Per mutual aid protocol, Queen Valley Fire and Superstition Fire each sent an engine with personnel to rotate with SFD during the firefighting efforts.  AMR ambulance graciously provided EMS support. Superior PD helped with scene security and is assisting SFD in the investigation, deemed as suspicious.

Only the walls remain of a house destroyed in Superior.
