Oracle Fire Department fights a brush fire near American Ave. and Dodge.

While we have enjoyed some precipitation in the past few weeks, those of us who reside in this area know that soon fire season will be here.  Last year we watched as many areas in Southern Arizona and our neighboring states dealt with wild fires.  What would you do if your home was in the path of a wild fire?

Please join the Oracle Fire District and the Oracle Firewise Board on March 22 at 6 p.m. at the Oracle Community Center,  685 E. American Avenue in Oracle.  There will be several guest speakers to include representatives from the AZ Department of Forestry and Fire Management, Pinal County Emergency Management, Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, AZ Department of Public Safety, American Red Cross, and other representatives of our area. Topics to be discussed will include the upcoming wildfire season, how to protect yourself, your children, your property and your neighbors, evacuations, and preparations you should be making now in the event there is a wild fire.  There will also be opportunities to enroll in the Emergency Notification System that is available in Oracle and opportunities for a free Firewise property assessment to aid in identifying problem areas.

The Oracle Community Center will also host a fund raiser spaghetti dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m. at $8 a plate.  All proceeds from the dinner will go to the Community Center.
