“There’s nothing like a small town Love.”

Anything IS Possible – just take a look at the miracle of Jovanna Calzadillas.  Her fundraising event this past weekend really proved that anything is possible!  As she sat upon a horse with her beautiful smile, rode around the arena surrounded by friends and a very loving family, your heart couldn’t help but to be filled up with HOPE.  Yes Hope!   Hope for a better tomorrow, Hope for a better future and wonder and amazement of this persistent young mother #JovannaStrong !

Many supporters came out to the Benefit Team Roping and Horseshoe Tournament, hosted by Rene Arbizo and Rudy Clark.  Sponsors included Rudy and Alexis Clark, John Ruiz with Ultimate Welding, Mike Mercer, Rene Arbizo, John Henry and Angie Gaona and family and Kaylee Garcia.  Thank you to the hundreds of Team Ropers who traveled from afar to offer love and support to Jovanna, her husband, children and parents, Barbara and Sam.   And the hosts would like to send out a huge thank you to the Town of Winkelman for use of the facilities, Asarco for the water truck and TorrioPromotions for hosting music and more. Without everyone’s help, this event would not be possible.

“There’s Nothing Like a Small Town Love” were the words that rang out before the roping started by Frank, Jovanna’s husband.  In the midst of such a tragic event, it’s refreshing to see the best brought out in people when we all unite with one common goal, in this instance, to support Jovanna and her family with love and light.  Jovanna will be the Grand Marshal at the Pioneer Days Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Kearny, as we are honored to celebrate her in her journey!

Jovanna was critically injured in the Las Vegas mass shooting on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. She and her husband were attending the Route 91 Country Music concert where she was caught in the gunfire.

Despite the heavy odds against her, Jovanna has made remarkable improvements and is now at home with her family.
