Yvon James Cooper, 84, passed away on Feb. 6, 2018 due to pneumonia and influenza.
Yvon earned his G.E.D. He served three years in the U.S. Army 14th Armored Cavalry in Germany during the Korean War. He also worked as an electrician in the copper mines at Magma and general construction in the southwest. He was a member of IBEW Local 518 in Globe.
Yvon is survived by two daughters, Terri Hahn (Lance) Knight of Buckeye and Nikki (Rick) Tafoya of Miami; sister, Shirley Adams of San Manuel; former spouse and mother of his children, Janet Thurman; former spouse, Avis Cooper; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 1364 S. Hagen Rd. in Globe at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Army Emergency Relief at aerhq.org.
