Betty J. Olson (Collins)

  Betty J. Olson (Collins) passed away Jan. 11, 2018.

     Betty was born in Sullivan, IN on Sept. 21, 1930 to Homer and Sarah Moody. Betty spent her childhood years in Sullivan. She was to meet her future husband, F. Richard Collins there. They lived in Indiana for a few years then moved to Tucson where their children were born.

     They moved to Kearny in 1963 where they opened the first of their businesses, Collins Kearny Variety Store. Later they opened D & B Lumber and then D & B Storage.

     Betty continued to live in Kearny after the passing of her first husband. Several years later, she met and married Darvin Olson.

     Betty was an avid gardener She especially enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her many plants.

     She was preceded in death by her parent, both her husbands and her son, Robert Steven.

     She is survived by her sons, Richard B (Deborah) and Jay (Karen); and her daughter Debbee (Steve) Hall. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

    Services will be Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Griffith Mortuary with interment to follow in Tucson where she will join her first husband.
