The S.A.Y.F. (Southern Arizona Youth Football) Miners Football Team season is off and running. This season there are two teams, the Minors and the Juniors.

For several years, the Miners football team has provided local area children, ages 7-12, the opportunity to play youth tackle football. The goal is to help support the athletic drive of these children, to keep these kids motivated and focused on learning the fundamentals of playing football, to socialize, and to develop skills that will be useful throughout their entire lives. The program has from 30 to 40 children each season from the communities of San Manuel, Kearny, Oracle, Mammoth, Dudleyville, Hayden and Winkelman.

Games are held on Saturdays, and this season the teams are going to be traveling to Marana, Vail, Kearny and San Manuel.

On Sunday, Sept. 30, the SAYF Miners were given the opportunity to go watch the Arizona Cardinals play against the Miami Dolphins. It was a very exciting trip and the players had a great time.

The game in Kearny is scheduled for Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Ray High School Football Field. The game in San Manuel is scheduled for Oct. 27. Hope you can all come out and support the local teams!
