It is cool and the feeling of Christmas is in the air. Winter Wonderland is ten days away. Houses in the Copper Basin area are being decorated with care being taken to save some lights for Electric Light Parade entries, and battery power to make it from Allen Street to the former cafeteria Ramada.

Join in and make this a ‘Fairytale Christmas Celebration’ Saturday Dec. 1. Walking groups can hand out candy; items cannot be thrown from moving vehicles. The judges will be in front of the Pinal County building.

Parade entry forms must be turned in several days before the parade to guarantee float announcement during the parade. Remember that the parade turns right at the 400 block of Danbury.

Santa will be arriving at 2 p.m. starting with a trip through town via a fire engine and possibly helicopter aerial support. Junior Chamber elves, princesses and princes will assist Santa on his first visit to the Copper Basin.

Junior Chamber members will also be selling luminarios with the proceeds going to ASU’s Autism/Aspergers Research program. This lovely array of light will be displayed on Alden Street, Friday, Dec. 21 at the Love Light ceremony.

The event opens at 11 a.m. with reindeer games, Event Wizard, karaoke, Dance Party, merchandise and food booths; Magee’s fry bread, funnel cakes, curly fries; Scott Thompson Scholarship menudo and posole; CAC Aravaipa coffee, Mexican Hot Chocolate and pastry; Junior Chamber sodas, hot tea and s’mores prepared over coals.

There are a few more time slots for churches, other choral groups and/or individuals to sign up for entertainment between 11a.m. and 4p.m.. Copper Basin Idols, Old School and the Cardells are already scheduled.

After the parade winners have been announced there will be a free screening of Arthur Christmas will be shown at the Ramada.
