The Town of Mammoth is looking for a new Town Council member to fill the vacancy opened by the recent passing of long time Mammoth resident Joe Tamayo.

Letters of interest are being accepted for the vacated Council seat. Letters need to be addressed to the Town Council and submitted to the Town Hall by Friday, Jan. 11 at 4 p.m.

The letters from qualified applicants will then be presented to the Mammoth Town Council for their next meeting on Jan. 17. The Town Council can then appoint a new member to the Council or table a decision until another public meeting is held.

The new Council member will then serve out the rest of Councilmember Tamayo’s term.
