When the school district moved into the new Superior Junior Senior High school the books, desks and files were packed. The doors closed and the new school was opened to carry on the traditions of the Superior High School and start new traditions as well.

One thing that was forgotten was some of the building dedications at the school facilities.

One of those dedications was naming the gym the Manny Ruiz Gym. Last year staff and the school board discussed the need to dedicate the new gym as the Manny Ruiz Gym.

The dedication will be held just before the varsity basketball game on November 26, 2012. The Panthers will be playing school rivals the Ray Bearcats.

This is the home opener of the 2012-13 basketball season. Members of the 1974 SHS Basketball team will be present for the ceremony. Anyone who played for Coach Ruiz is encouraged to attend.

Coach Ruiz was a longtime coach and teacher for the Superior Unified School district. For more information about the ceremony of the upcoming basketball season, contact the Superior Junior/Senior High School at 520-689-3000.
