Pinal Rural Fire Rescue has received a donation of equipment from the Sedona Fire Department. Assistant Fire Chief Mike Miranda is a friend of Sedona Fire Department Captain Mark Rippy and had been in contact with him. Captain Rippy made everything happen. He proposed the donation of surplus equipment to the Fire Chief Kris Kazian who agreed to present it to the Fire Board. The Board approved the donation and it was delivered this week. Some of the equipment they received included a combi-tool spreader and cutter in one, 18 sets of turnout gear, helmets, gloves, lighting, a new style gurney, 2 sawz-alls, 11 airbag lift systems, a 5,000 PSI unit for “Jaws of Life”, hoses, and nozzles.

Pinal Rural Chief Bud Paine said that Chief Kazian was a Fire Chief inIllinoisand believes that fire departments should cooperate with each other and share surplus equipment when they can. The equipment donated was worth approximately $20,000. Pinal Rural also received 11 intrinsically safe radios from the Phoenix Fire Department. The radios will not spark and can be used when working around flammable gases. Pinal Rural would like to thank the Sedona and Phoenix Fire Departments for helping to make the community safer.
