Porfirio J. Garcia, 84, previous longtime resident of Dudleyville passed away at home on Jan. 14. He was born in Terlingua, Texas, on Sept. 13, 1928 to Susano and Lorenza Garcia.

Porfirio J. Garcia

Porfirio was preceded in death by his loving wife Sara Garcia; brothers, Dernabe, Susano, Toribio, Lujenio, Petrinilo and Jose; and sister, Toribia. He is survived by daughter Ida Combs of Kentucky and many nephews and nieces in New Mexico, California and Arizona.

Porfirio spent many years working at the Ray pit as a blaster, blowing up the hillsides for copper ore. Also known as Papa Tio, he was very passionate about his pets, especially his dogs.

Services were performed by Father Robert Rodriguez and funeral arrangements were handled by Griffith Mortuary.

Porfirio will be greatly missed.
