Sexual abuse is our nation’s most rapidly growing crime. Seven hundred thousand women in the U.S. are sexually assaulted each year (more than one woman per minute). Childhood sexual abuse occurs in the lives 1 of 4 women and in 1 of 6 men prior to the age of eighteen. One in four women have been raped.
Dr. Diane Langberg says that, “Abuse” is to use wrongly or improperly, to consume, to violate, to defile, and to tarnish. It happens when a person uses another person for wrong purposes. To simply “use” someone as an object is already outside the boundaries of healthy loving relationships. All people are made in the image of God and are to be honored and loved.
To use someone to satisfy one’s ego or sexual appetite is an affront to God.
She is right. If you or someone you know is being abused, report it. Don’t let the crime continue.
Come and join us at Fellowship Baptist Church on Sunday evenings as we watch videos on how to care for people God’s way. We will help.
If you would like to talk with me (Pastor Joe Palmer of Fellowship Baptist) about it, email me at email@example.com.
