Many people have the idea that when they die, they will automatically go to heaven. In John 3:5-8, Jesus explains that only those who are ‘born again’ will be allowed to enter heaven.
Just what does the term, born again, really mean? First of all, it only matters what God thinks, not what I want, wish or desire. Whatever God calls wrong, will always be wrong. When we do, say or think things that God has declared to be wrong, it is called sin.
Since God is ‘holy,’ or without any sin, He does not allow anyone involved in a sinful lifestyle to enter into heaven. We must recognize the harmful ways in our life and tell God that we are sorry for living that way. Then, we promise to follow God’s directions on how to live a holy life. To make it easy, He wrote it all down in a book we call the ‘Holy Bible.’
When we ask Him to take sin out of our life, we become saved or ‘born again.’ Next, we promise Him that we will live by and obey all of His rules. By doing so, we have received permission to enter heaven.
It is not by what we do, but because of what He did 2,000 years ago. By innocently dying on the cross, He took responsibility for our sins; clearing the way for us to be born again – set free from our sins.
Heaven is a wonderful place, filled with God’s love, glory and grace! Believe in Jesus and ask Him to guide and direct your life. Read your Bible and do what it says. Then, we will see each other in heaven! May the Lord richly bless your life.
