Panthers’ volleyball team celebrates Senior Night

The Superior girls’ volleyball team celebrated Senior Night at their last home game versus Cibecue on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. It was a doubleheader match against the Wildcats.

Seniors Ariel Alonzo, Kiyoko Alonzo, Maria Barreras, Mariza Padilla, and Jennifer Ybarra were cheered one last time by the home crowd and recognized for their dedication and effort to the Panthers’ athletic program.

The Panthers’ swept Miami on October 16, 3 – 0. Assistant Coach Dora Salcido coached the team in the absence of head coach Cheryl Lopez. Lopez missed the game due to illness.

Coach Salcido said the team showed excellent team work, communication and coverage in the victory. Jennifer Ybarra was named player of the game for her performance. She had superb digs, saves and pancakes.

The Panthers finish out their season with consecutive road games starting with top-ranked St. Johns on Thursday, October 24. The game at St. Johns is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Their final regular-season game is at Ray on Tuesday, October 29 at 5:00 p.m.
