The Oracle Women’s Network (O.W.N.) presented a scholarship on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Sierra Oaks School in Oracle.
The $600 scholarship was presented to Jaden Palmer, a student at Sierra Oaks, by Debbie Pfaff and Elaine Helzer, members of O.W.N. The scholarship will pay for piano lessons for Jaden for the entire year from Helzer, a local music teacher. The money for the scholarship came from community donations and a fund raising event at the Oracle Community Center.
Andrew Robles received a $300 scholarship which will provide him with piano and voice lessons for six months. Congratulations to Andrew and Jaden. O.W.N. hopes to be able to provide six music and voice scholarships per year to local students so they can nurture their music interests.
Ten applications were received this year with the women from O.W.N. selecting the recipients of the scholarship. O.W.N. is trying to get more schools and students interested in the scholarship program.
O.W.N. and the Tri-Community Visitors Center will be hosting the “Taste of Oracle” event on Oct. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. in front of the Tri-Community Visitors Center at the Village Square parking lot 1995 W. American Ave., Oracle.
