The San Manuel High School’s cross country team hosted the 25th Annual San Manuel Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 11 with 13 teams competing.
Taking home the first place trophy was San Carlos Braves boys team and the Safford Bulldogs took home the top spot in the girls competition.
The top finishers for San Manuel for the boys team was James Duarte medaling at 18th place, for the girls team were Eneida Quintero finishing in 10th place and Andrea Castaneda finishing in 20th place.
In the Junior Varsity competition, finishing in 10th place was Carlos Salas.
The Miner trailblazers then headed into Tucson to take part in the Old Pueblo Invitational on Sept. 21, to compete against 35 teams from across Southern and Northern Arizona.
Competing for the freshmen boys were Colbey Stratton and Tylo Montes.
For the girls sophomore race Andrea Castaneda finished 15th place. In the boys sophomore race was Carlos Salas, Taylor Woods, with Patrick Lopez medaling at ninth place.
Representing the junior girls was Diana Medina. In the junior boys race was Jared Gonzales, Colton Stratton, Marco Salas, with James Duarte finishing in 19th place.
In the senior race, Amara Apuron, Marcos Parra, and Nathaniel Lopez competed.
The Miners will travel to Globe on Wednesday for a multi meet against Coolidge, Globe, and San Carlos; the meet will start at 3 p.m.
