Senator Barbara McGuire, former two-term state representative, has been sworn in to represent the new LD-8 district which includes the Copper Corridor, Sun Corridor and the Gila River Tribal communities.

Barbara McGuire

McGuire is a Salvation Army Director, former business owner, a chamber of commerce executive and a Citizen of the Year among other achievements. She currently serves on the Senate’s Natural Resources and Rural Affairs, Public Safety and Transportation committees.

In total, there are about 250,000 residents in the district with its largest area in population being the unincorporated city of San Tan Valley, representing one third of the district.
