At the Mammoth Town Council meeting held on Thursday Nov. 29, Public Works Director David Garcia accused Council member Joe Brewer of violating his employee right to privacy for asking to look at his application.

Garcia requested that the Mayor and council conduct an investigation into his allegations and take legal or disciplinary action as warranted. Garcia passed out copies of his letter requesting investigation and action on his allegation to all council members and the Town Attorney.

In old business, the Council tabled new pay rates for Library Personnel to a later date. Under new business, a contract with Pitney-Bowes was renewed for one year. A discussion about new proposed library hours recommended that time be scheduled for senior citizens to have more access to the library.

A permit to sell beer for the New Year’s Eve party at the Blessed Sacrament Church was approved. The Council approved a request to have the Town ofMammothemployees Holiday Party at the Community Center and have it catered.

Beverly Howell proposed having a craft boutique/fair at the Miner’s Memorial area on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15. It was approved.

Sealed bids for old surplus vehicles were opened with some of them being accepted by the Council. Tanya Renteria of Head Start spoke before the Council. Mayor Barcelo proclaimed October as Head Start Awareness Month.

Public Works Director David Garcia proposed that the Town of Mammoth provide a $100 stipend/reimbursement for safety steel toed boots for employees. The proposal was approved for a stipend/reimbursement of up to $100 for one pair of boots per employee on a one-time basis.

Frances Wickham honored former Council member Joe Tamayo who recently passed away for his work with the town of Mammoth. “He will not be forgotten,” she said.
