The San Manuel Lady Miners basketball team is set to go for the upcoming season as second year Head Coach David Jungbluth along with Assistants Beth Smith, Freddy Burnham, Jacob Sharff will look to improve on a 5 – 11 overall record from last year.

The Lady Miners lost one starter but will return junior Angelica Zuniga – post; junior Asha Quintero – wing/post; senior Alexis Garibay – wing; and sophomore Kadi Monfred – wing.

Top Returners to this year’s team are senior Leticia Reidhead – point guard; junior Felicia Gomez – wing; and junior Analisa Robles – post.

Top Newcomers are senior Maximilliana Lara – post; junior Cierra Austin – wing; and junior Nicole Predgo – point guard.

Coach Jungbluth said, “Our strength is our post players, we need to pound the ball in to our tall girls, and our rebounding is also a strength.

Our weakness is our outside shooting and handling pressure defense.”

The Lady Miners took part in the Boyd Baker Tournament last week and traveled to Tucson to take on Immaculate Heart on Tuesday. San Manuel will make the trip to Oro Valley to face off against Canyon Del Oro today with the JV playing at 3:30 p.m. and the varsity taking the floor at 6:30 p.m. Then the ladies will head up to the Copper Cities Tournament in Globe on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
