Finally, after nine straight losses, the Lady Lobos bad luck is finally over.

The Lady Lobo volleyball team boarded the bus for a trip to Mesa to take on the Lady Monsoons of Mesa Prep Academy. They returned home with a five set victory over the Monsoons. The teams kept trading wins with the Monsoons taking the first set 20 to 25. The Lady Lobos, behind the serving of Julisa Westrope with 10 service points, won set two, 25 to 15. Despite seven service points from Devin Estrada, the Lady Lobos dropped set three with a score of 22-25. The Lady Lobos evened the sets at two a piece behind the serving of Kyana Garcia to win set four with a score of 25-17. The Lady Lobos won the match taking the fifth set 15-10 to end their losing streak.

The Lady Wildcats of Cibecue High School were on the Lobo court on Thursday giving the Lady Lobos all they could handle. With the Lady Lobos unable to land their spikes, the Cibecue team took the first set 22-25. Despite continued troubles with their spikes, good all around play by the Lady Lobos gave them a second set win, 25-23. The third set, the Lobos returned to an old mode of no talk, no movement, and no spiking to lose set three, 16-25. The fourth set was an exciting one! With Kyana Garcia hitting for eight of 12 service points, the Lobos took a comfortable 18-8 lead. It was too comfortable as Cibecue’s number six server came to the line and hit for 14 straight service points to take a 19-23 lead. The Lady Lobos did not give up coming back to take the fourth set 25-23. The fifth set was just as exciting. The wildcats took a 4-8 lead but Devin Estrada brought the Lobos back with five service points to take a 10-8 lead and kept the pace up finally winning 15-12 to win their second match of the week.

The Lobo JV split their two matches defeating Mesa Prep three sets and losing to Cibecue in three sets.
