After years of planning Hayden’s St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 100th Anniversary celebration will get underway this Saturday, Sept. 28, with a Mass at 4 p.m. and end with a dance held under the stars at the Hayden Golf Course.
Beginning at 3p.m. the church doors will open for the public to be seated. Promptly at 4 p.m. Mass will begin with the Knights of Columbus from around the Copper Basin and Tucson leading in the clergy and standing guard.
The clergy will consist of previous priests who served in the church, priests from around the area, Reverend Monsignor Ambrose, Reverend Monsignor Raul Treviso and Bishop Gerald Kicanas and the list is still expanding.
After Mass a big celebration will be held at the golf course at no cost. The celebration includes jumping castles and cotton candy for kids, a kiddie train, food catered by Los Hermanos, speakers, entertainment from mariachis, folklorico dancers from U of A, and a dance with the band Andrea y Los Guys.
Over 1,000 people are expected to attend. Parking at the golf course is limited. A shuttle to the celebration from the Hayden-Winkelman Schools will be available.
