On Oct. 24, 2012, a report was made to the Hayden Police Department regarding possible child abduction. Officers responded and interviewed the juvenile and parents in question.

According to the juvenile, a Caucasian male with dark hair was driving a blue four-door sedan while the juvenile was walking near Canyon Road and Kennecott Road. The driver called the juvenile towards the vehicle, once the juvenile realized they were not familiar with the person, they ran home.

Hayden Police Department located a person of interest a day later with a similar vehicle in the area. The subject was detained and interviewed. The vehicle was impounded and a polygraph was administered. The subject was released after the interview due to lack of evidence that any crime was committed.

Hayden Police Chief S.G. Gillen stated that even though the individual who approached the juvenile asked the juvenile to come to his vehicle, a crime was not committed.

Investigation of the incident is ongoing.
