Each year the children and grandchildren of John and Barbara “Boots” O’Donnell host a Christmas party in the valley just days before Christmas.

When the invites are sent out, they encourage all of their guests to bring a toy to be donated to the Toys for Kids program at the Superior Police Department.

On Christmas Eve, several of the brothers drive a truckload of toys to the police department. The family has hosted the party and delivered the toys for almost 12 years now.

“Superior has a special place in our hearts,” said Jim O’Donnell, “my Mom and Dad live for this day each year.”

Kathy Noriega has coordinated the Toys for Kids program for many years. She, along with many volunteers, helps to wrap and prepare the gifts for the families who request help at Christmas.
